A wise marketer will consider all options when planning and applying marketing techniques. Following up on yesterday's blog post, here are a few more upsell strategies for the home based Internet business.© GT Bulmer Web Biz Opportunities - StarrBizz.comAs mentioned in the previous web biz blog post, "upselling" is the process of attracting a potential customer with one offer, then suggesting an alternative item that is of better quality or has more features. Typically, the alternative item costs more and produces a higher profit for the seller. However, both choices remain available and the customer is free to choose one or the other. Below, you will find a few more suggested upsell strategies, these also taken from my Home Internet Business Tips Newsletter: 1. Time Upsell: If the product or service you are selling is by subscription, you could offer a discounted price if they subscribe for two years instead of one. 2. Quantity Upsell: This is similar to the Discount Upsell mentioned yesterday, however with the Quantity Upsell you increase the discount by how many products they order. For example, if they order three it's a 10% discount, if they order five it's a 15% discount. 3. Extra Upsell: Does your product have things you could charge extra for? Like custom designs, imprinting, gift wrapping? Offer the extras for a special price available only at the time they are purchasing the main item. 4. Extended Upsell: Some products come with a warranty. If your product comes with a warranty, ask your prospects if they would like to extend it for another year for a specified additional cost. 5. Affiliate Upsell: This is a common one within home based Internet business circles. When you're selling a product you could offer someone else's product as an upsell. The product upsell should be similar to the first item, but it should offer better quality or additional features and should provide you with an affiliate commission that is greater than the profit you would earn on the first item.  If you keep your eyes open and watch what other online marketers are doing, you can always find more upsell strategies for the home based Internet business. It can be quite challenging to get customers in the first place so you want to make the best of every selling opportunity you get. By the same token, every customer wants the best value for the lowest price. That's quite likely why they were attracted to your offer in the first place: it was the product or service they wanted at a price they felt comfortable with. However, since value is sometimes more important than price, this gives you the opportunity to offer your prospect something that may cost a little more, but provides better quality or additional features. This is called "upselling." You attract the prospect with your best deal, then present them with alternatives before they make the buying decision. Upselling happens all of the time in all industries. It happens in real estate and auto sales. It happens with electronics, appliances and furniture. It happens with footwear and clothing. It happens in restaurants, hotels and with vacation packages. Upselling can also be put to good use in the Internet based home business. Here are a few suggested upsell strategies I've picked out from my Home Internet Business Tips Newsletter: 1. Deluxe Upsell: This is the standard example. You offer a basic product, then for a little more money, they can get the deluxe edition with enhanced features. 2. Money Upsell: This is popular in Internet Marketing. Customers who buy your product can be offered the rights to resell the product. You would charge an extra fee for the reproduction or resell rights. 3. Discount Upsell: If you are selling a consumable product, something the customer may purchase again at a future date, you could offer them a second one at a discounted price if they buy it now. 4. Free Upsell: You could offer the basic or "economy" model as a free sample or trial then tell people if they order the full or "deluxe" version right now they will get a discount.  5. Package Upsell: Offer your prospects a package deal. When they come looking for the product advertised, also offer it in a package with other similar products. Point out the fact that each of the products is cheaper in the package than if they were purchased separately. These are just a few possible upsell strategies for the internet based home business. You can use them or adapt them any way you want for your own web biz products, programs and services. Internet Marketing is a broad subject that can mean a variety of things to different people. Web biz marketing is a lot like any other business or profession. It also takes focus, determination and dedication. In the beginning, most newbies play follow-the-leader and simply promote the web biz products or programs that attracted them into the business in the first place. Once new marketers begin to feel their way around and start to get a sense of the way marketing on the Internet works, then they begin to understand a few things about the kinds of products, programs or services that they should be promoting. Basically, the best rule of thumb is to choose web biz products or programs that you use, or have used, and that you, personally, find to be beneficial and of good quality. If the product or service is so great that you would willingly buy into the company, you can bet you will be able to promote it with enough enthusiasm to make believers of your targeted prospects. This holds true for both products and programs. Use them, work with them, learn all the features and benefits available and you will be in the best position and the best frame of mind to promote them successfully. But what should an Internet Market choose? Web biz products or programs?Web biz products can include physical things like books, materials, software, consumer goods; anything that is delivered into the hands of the customer for their convenience and use. The product category can also include services. Services can include subscription sales, web hosting, web development, copywriting, access to online utilities; anything where some service is provided to the customer that the customer can't or wont do it him or herself. Web biz programs can include all forms of business and income opportunities, including Multi-Level marketing, Network Marketing, Affiliate Marketing and a variety of other money-making plans. As with everything else, when choosing web biz products or programs, it comes down to individual preferences. Do you want to provide products and services where you put something directly into the hands of your customers? Or do you want to promote opportunities that empower your prospects to make lifestyle changes on their own? Once you have tested the items personally, you may want to offer a blend of both products and programs. When doing this, a good rule of thumb is to keep everything within a specific market niche. You can't be everything to everybody and you will enjoy better results if you "specialize" or focus on a similar line of products, services and programs. Many affiliate programs offer the best of both worlds: a product that you earn sales commissions on that serves also as a training manual or program for your customer, who can then use it to learn how to sell the product to earn extra income. I've been a member of the Twitter social networking site for several weeks now and the experience keeps getting better and better!© GT Bulmer Web Biz Opportunities - StarrBizz.comSocial networking has become such a vital part of every home based web biz marketer's game plan and Twitter has developed into a leading force in social networking. The biggest benefit of social networking is that it is free; you can reach thousands of prospects easily and economically. The challenge of social networking is that you have to spend time developing your presence on a social media site and time developing relationships of trust. Twitter definitely simplifies the process. Sign-up and set-up take a matter of minutes. Then all you do is begin posting your "tweets" in 140 characters or less. You can post as often as you like, but the secret to social networking success is to offer info, insight and value, not just blatant promos or ads for your products and services. You will find that once you become active in posting tweets, Twitter members will automatically start following you. And that is the object of social networking; to build a list of followers. There are a few techniques to build your followers faster. One way is to follow other members. It's easy to do on Twitter - just a click of the button - and most members you follow will follow you back. As your list of followers grows, it becomes even more important to create a balance between informative tweets and promotional tweets. Also, it helps to keep your tweets relative to your basic theme. For example, I try to keep the majority of my gtbulmer tweets focused on the theme of business and online marketing. I try to keep the majority of my ThinkGreen4Life tweets focused on the theme of the environment and going green. If your tweets depart too far afield of the theme that attracted your followers, some will un-follow you, and on Twitter, it's just as easy to un-follow as it is to follow. Another way to help build your followers is to "re-tweet" the posts of other members. Basically, you click the "reply" icon to paste their twitter ID into your comment field; you type in the letters "RT" (meaning re-tweet), then copy and paste the portion of their text that you want to re-tweet. After making sure it is 140 characters or less, you then click the "update" button to post the re-tweet. When you re-tweet the comments of other members, they appreciate it and will likely pay more attention to your tweets. Also, they might return the favour and re-tweet some of your tweets. There is a HUGE advantage to this: when they re-tweet your tweets, their ENTIRE list of followers could potentially see your messages. There are two key benefits to this: - First, you instantly multiply your exposure to members you might otherwise never reach. - Second, when one member re-tweets another, many of their followers begin following the member who has just been re-tweeted. With that in mind, I actively watch for tweets that I think my followers will be interested in, then re-tweet those tweets. It's one more way I can provide service and value to members of my growing social network on Twitter. After just a few weeks as a member of Twitter, I have developed a nice following and I am following many informative and inspirational members. Not only have I been learning a great deal on a variety of topics, but I've been finding some great links to share with friends on other social networking sites. I just like the idea of matching people up with the things they want or need, then earning a commission for doing it. Getting into the web biz was a natural for me. Of course, it helps that I enjoy writing and that I am a bit of an enthusiastic promoter. That's what online marketing is all about. You need to create appealing advertising copy and you need to present your web biz products and services in their best light. There are so many ways to advertise and promote your goods online. Free advertising, paid advertising, blogging, social networking, web site promotion, web biz marketing through link exchanges with other online marketers, free or for-sale eBooks, membership sites, forums and more. There are many ways to make money online, too. You can sell tech products and services, books and eBooks, personal care, weight loss, home care, insurance, music and much, much more. The list is endless. If you have ever wondered what sells online, well, pretty much anything sells online if you market it well, provide competitive prices and dependable service. Most affiliate companies have excellent ordering systems that look after your customers. It helps make the web biz both easy and profitable for you. You do the advertising and promoting and they take care of the payment processing and product delivery or shipping. If you are marketing your own products and services, there are many tools and resources readily available online to help you quickly set up your own e-commerce website.
