Affiliate Marketing is the process where you advertise and promote products and services for online companies and in return, you earn commissions as an Affiliate. After a few frustrating days of trial and error with coding for some of the links on the StarrBizz.com web biz marketing site, this Internet business is back on track! © GT Bulmer Web Biz Opportunities - StarrBizz.comRecently, I went through the process of transferring my web biz hosting needs to a new provider, HostGator. HostGator has a range of services that can truly help an entrepreneur expand their marketing reach and the level of their professionalism substantially. During the process of the transfer, as can be expected, some minor glitches occurred. As noted in my previous web biz blog post, between HostGator tech support and a couple of my Internet Marketing mentors, we identified the problems and found solutions. The biggest headache had to do with link re-directs I have created over the past few years using third-party software. There was something wrong in the coding that worked fine at the old web host, but would not work here at the new host. HostGator identified the offending code immediately, and although my marketing mentors tried to guide me through the steps to correct the problem, it did take me some study and trial and error to work through the solution due to my inexperience with the new hosting platform. However, once I caught on to the process, fixing the problem at hand was basically quick and simple. You may still find the odd link that still doesn't open properly, but for the most part, I have fixed all of the current links and the most relevant ones. I will get to them all, eventually. This has been a great relief! You know how stressful it can be when you have a problem but you can't envision the solution. You start to imagine that it will never be resolved. I think that is where vision, goals and commitment to success come in. You must be determined to push through the frustration until you find the solution - whatever it takes. Now that I've got this Internet home business back on track, it's on to some new projects! Details to follow, soon. Don't you just love problems and challenges? They test us and stretch us and force us to explore uncharted realms in our journey to and through knowledge and learning. © GT Bulmer Web Biz Opportunities - StarrBizz.comI don't like problems. Yes, I agree. Problems can be a good thing. They challenge us to stretch our thinking and our abilities and if we have the fortitude to persevere, we come out the other side stronger and wiser. But I still don't like problems! lolYesterday, I made a number of changes to the StarrBizz.com homepage including posting a new feature article and a few new Web Bizz Blog highlights. I didn't finish everything until late in the evening, so I was in a hurry to upload my revised Index file to my server and post the changes to the Internet. I always check new pages in a web browser after I upload them, and I did that with the StarrBizz homepage. I noticed a wee problem when the page loaded, but being late in the evening, I passed it off as being a minor browser glitch and expected that it would correct itself.  ... However, first thing this morning, upon opening the StarrBizz homepage in my browser, I was alarmed to discover that the glitch was still there! If any of my visitors experienced this problem through that 12 hour period, please accept my apology. The problem had to do with the pop-over or drop-down box that appears when you open the StarrBizz.com page. This box promotes the bonuses you get when you sign up for my web biz newsletter. When it's working properly, the box includes a "Close" link right at the top allowing visitors to get rid of it quickly and easily. This morning, I discovered that the "Close" link was missing from the box! That meant visitors could not close the box ... and if you are like me, you aren't real happy about those pop-overs and drop-downs to begin with. A box that won't close does nothing positive for the reputation of a website, I know. Looking around the web page, I noticed that the "Close" link was actually misplaced: it was up in the top, left corner of the web page in a spot visitors may not think to look. Not being a techie or a master at HTML, I wondered what to do? What I did was open the Index file for that page into an HTML editor so I could examine the code for anomalies. Not recognizing any, I then opened a previously saved older version of the Index file and compared the code for the drop-down box in the two files. Ah ha! What I discovered was that the code in the offending file had somehow been rearranged. A couple lines of code were in a different spot. So, I changed the code to match that of the older file and tested the page. Eureka! It worked. I quickly uploaded the corrected file to my server and republished to the Net and all was well once again. Thank goodness. However, once question still remained: how did that lit bit of code get moved around? I think I know what happened: bad mouse. Bad, bad mouse.I've been having trouble with my computer mouse lately. It's getting old and it seems like it sometimes double-clicks when it should only be a single-click. That causes problems when I'm copying and pasting ... which I do a lot when I'm working on text and HTML in web pages. I must have inadvertently highlighted and moved that  drop-down box code without realizing it. It's either that ... or gremlins. Either way, at least I got my pop-over problem solved. Guess I'd better start shopping for a new mouse. The Twitter phenomenon continues to explode! I was a Twitter backslider for about a month or so. I started on Twitter earlier this year and became so enthralled by it that Twitter became my primary social networking focus for a few months.  First, I started my gtbulmer Twitter account and worked hard at building up my Following and Followers lists and my Tweets list. My focus was to become an active member of the Twitter community and I achieved that by posting a mix of promotional tweets, informative tweets, inspirational tweets and numerous retweets on a daily basis. Once I got that account rolling, I decided I had better give my StarrBizz.com web biz a Twitter profile, so I started the StarrBizzcom Twitter account and got busy applying the above process to that one on a daily basis, too. And then ... as if I didn't have enough to do ... I launched the Think Green 4 Life environmental niche site and decided I had better start a Twitter profile for that, too! ThinkGreen4Life Twitter account. Things were moving forward real well ... until about a month ago when I got so busy with a variety of online web biz and offline writing projects, something had to give. Twitter was very time consuming, so without truly intending to neglect it, that's exactly what happened. Then, about a week ago, a marketing friend reminded me of the value that Twitter can bring, and seeing a dip in my StarrBizz.com visitor statistics, I decided it was time to get back on the Twitter bandwagon. I'm still not back up to the level of activity that I was committing to Twitter a few months ago, but I'm slowly creeping back up there. Twitter isn't the only social networking game in town, and it's not going to produce overnight marketing success for you, but it's still a very popular site, so no matter what else you are doing, you should still make some time to Twitter for your web biz. You will find many great tools on the Internet to measure and monitor various elements of your web biz. Have you used the SEOCentro Keyword Rank Checker yet? One of the resources is the Keyword Rank Checker. This is an excellent tool to check your search engine position ranking in the major search engines for any keyword. This tool also produces an advanced report that includes related keywords. The Keyword Rank Checker is easy to use and the results are produced very quickly. All you do is key in the keyword or keyword phrase you want to check, plus the domain ( www.StarrBizz.com for example), a competitor's domain if you want (it is optional), and a verification or access code.  I entered one of my top keyword phrases - web biz opportunities - and was very pleased with the (expected) results! The phrase ranked #1 in Google, #1 in Yahoo! and ...what? Only #5 in Bing?Actually, when I looked at the Bing-specific report, while it did show one of my web biz blog posts in the fifth position, I was happy to discover that the #1 ranking website turned out to be ( drum roll) www.StarrBizz.com! I didn't check, yet, to see why that didn't show up in the condensed report, but I'm not complaining. The report also lists a series of related keywords and when you click on any of them, it brings up a new Keyword Rank report showing where your website sits with the selected keyword. Once again, it is very quick, very informative ... and extremely interesting. Give it a try. It's free.
