One key to creating a successful business online is to brand yourself or your business. This post offers a few branding tips for Internet Marketing.© GT Bulmer Web Biz Opportunities -StarrBizz.com It makes no difference whether you manage a large online company or you are developing your own one-person home based web biz, branding can be a huge factor in determining the speed and degree of your success. Branding is the process of getting your name or your business out to your prospective customers in ways that consistently influence how they feel about your products or services. In other words, when they see your emails, ads, articles or website, the image they get of you and the quality of your service is immediately positive. The most successful branding takes it a step further. Not only do your targeted customers get a positive feeling when they see your marketing materials, but they also remember you as a possible supplier when seeking the kinds of products or services that you provide. A good thing to remember with branding is that people still like to deal with people. You see it often on television where a store owner or business operator appears in advertisements and extends to the viewer a personal invitation to visit his or her business. Here is a case in point: a couple of years ago, I began seeing a TV ad for a certain household alarm system. What caught my attention was the owner's presence in the ad. Actually, what really caught my attention was the fact that he was stiff, nervous and robot-like in his presentation. However, I was impressed that he overcame his discomfort to personally present a very important message of home security. Every time that ad came on, I stopped what I was doing to watch and listen. Well, guess what? His commitment to his business, his industry and his customers was such that through the year, each time the company created and broadcast a new ad, the owner's presentation improved. He worked hard at developing his presentation skills for each new ad. Now, everything about his manner is relaxed and comfortable; he comes across as friendly, personal and sincerely concerned for your home safety. I like the guy! I remember him, the name of his company and even the company's ad jingle. That is branding. You can, and should, apply the concept to your home based web biz. Here are some branding tips for Internet Marketing: 1. Write, or have written, a report of useful information related to your industry or niche and of particular interest to your prospective customers; information that is focused, helpful and effective. Make it simple to read and easy to follow. Offer it free to your prospects and encourage them to give it away to others. This is a form of viral marketing which can be extremely powerful. 2. Promote the report in online discussion forums and social networking sites; include it in your profiles and signature files. That is all that some marketers promote in their profiles and signatures; they don't promote their website or blog. The idea is to focus on getting the report out to as many people as possible. 3. Use an autoresponder to deliver the report so you can collect names and email addresses for future follow-up. This provides you with ongoing opportunities to reinforce your branding efforts. And give people permission to give your autoresponder email address to friends and associates; provide it in the report. 4. Make the report available to visitors on your website and blog. Place the sign-up form at the top of the page where everybody will see it. Include your photo to strengthen the personal aspect of the branding process. 5. For consistency of recognition, wherever you post your photo on the Internet, use the same picture. The ultimate key to successful branding is getting your name and your picture out as many ways and as many places as possible. Work at developing a positive image, instant recognition and a brand that people will remember when they are in the market for what you have to offer. Use these branding tips for Internet Marketing and you will move your business in the right direction. It has never been easier to start a home based web biz, but to be successful, you need a proven Internet business strategy; you need to get the competitive advantage.© GT Bulmer Web Biz Opportunities - StarrBizz.comThe Internet has opened up a world of opportunity for entrepreneurs at all levels. However, the same open environment is also creating a marketplace that is becoming more competitive with each passing day. Brian Tracy, bestselling author, professional speaker and successful businessperson, says, "If you want to win in today's marketplace, you have to engage in marketing warfare." To be successful, you are going to have to take a much more aggressive role in identifying your targeted audience and getting out there doing the things you need to do to get their attention and persuade them to buy from you. You need to develop an Internet business strategy. I just reviewed an iLearning Global presentation featuring Brian Tracy, titled Engage in Marketing Warfare, and I posted the review in the Entrepreneur University section of the EvanCarmichael.com Entrepreneur Forums. In the video, Brian highlights the difference between "marketing" and "selling." Basically, marketing is "the way you tell the world that you have a product or service that they can use" and selling is "the process of persuading people that what you are offering is the best choice among all choices that are available." More detail about this is given in the review. Brian also outlines the four key principles of marketing strategy: Specialization, Differentiation, Segmentation and Concentration. Again, more detail can be found in the review, This is Marketing Warfare!, posted in the Entrepreneur University forum. In Brian's iLearning Global presentation, he asks such questions as: - What is your area of specialization? - In what ways are you better than your competition? - What is your Unique Selling Proposition and who is the customer that will most appreciate it? - How do you want to be described by your customers? This description will influence everything you do to attract and keep your customers. Brian also highlights the importance of "branding." Branding has been defined as "the promises you make and the promises you keep." As a business leader and professional business coach, Brian's insight and recommendations have proven to be effective time and time again. In these challenging times, whether you are looking to establish a traditional business offline or an Internet based home business, if you truly desire success, you are going to have to look at ways to step up your marketing efforts. The best way to gain the competitive advantage in your field is to develop an Internet business strategy. For more inspiration from Brian Tracy, read the review, This is Marketing Warfare! The path to web biz success for every proven home based Internet business is through the application of recognized and recommended marketing methods. Branding is one technique worth looking into.© GT Bulmer http://www.StarrBizz.comThe idea or concept of "branding" or "building a brand" is usually associated with larger companies and businesses and in that context, branding can be formal and complex. However, when I write about branding in relation to home based Internet business ideas and opportunities I like to bring it down to a more personal level. Branding to me simply means creating an image or reputation online as a respected source for information, resources and products in a chosen marketing niche. In that way, the brand or perceived image you create for your home based Internet business is the key to your web biz success. Traditionally, a brand is thought of as being a specific product or logo or other graphic image that sets one business or person apart from another. But a brand can also be represented by personality, practices and standards of quality. For example, when a business person becomes known and recognized as a professional, or as an expert in their field or as a preferred source, that is branding. When you are building your brand for web biz success, what you are trying to do is first, establish your presence - that is, get your home based internet business onto the radar of your targeted prospects; and second, increase your perceived value to your prospective customers. That's the two keys right there: awareness and value. You want your prospects to know about you and to consider you the first choice and best choice to service their needs. Creating Awareness Through MarketingStandard forms of marketing can be applied to build brand or image awareness: - Advertising through various media, online and offline - Website development and website promotion - SEO (Search Engine Optimization) via on site and off site optimization - Blogging - Article Marketing - Online business and marketing forums - Social Marketing, Social Networking or Bookmarking online Value-Added ServiceThis involves a commitment to becoming more knowledgeable in your marketing niche and more thorough and professional in the services you offer and how you deliver them. Anybody can sell a product or provide a service. What can YOU do to make your product or service better and more appealing to your prospects? - Better quality or selection - Better pricing or payment choices - Access to additional features - Easy access to your help and support - Value-added additional materials, information, or training guides- Article series, ebook(s) or marketing courses in your niche that set you apart as the knowledgeable expert in the field Web Biz success seldom just falls into the lap of online marketers. It takes some effort on your part to demonstrate to your prospects that your proven home based Internet ideas, opportunities, products and services are their best choice. Building your brand is the key.
