home based web biz enthusiasts is to sell stuff on the Internet. To do this, you need to set up an attractive website and drive visitors to it. There are numerous ways to drive traffic. A few examples: blogging, social networking, online marketing forums, article marketing, advertising, viral marketing via ebooks, e-courses, newsletters and other informational or instructional materials.
However, driving traffic to a website is not the ultimate answer. There are only so many potential customers and once they pass through your web space, then what? An Internet Marketer needs to place a great deal of emphasis on getting the
same visitors back again.
The best way to get visitors back again is by giving them a good reason to return. Think about this: what did they come to your website for in the first place?
Information! They came looking for information, in some format, that you promised them. It might have been in the form of an advertisement for a product or service, or a program review, an article, a solution to a problem they have.
Whether or not they will remember your website and ever return again will depend on two key factors:
1) Did you live up to your promise? Did you deliver the goods, whatever it was that they came looking for? If you did and they left happy, chances are they might return again.
2) Content!
Website visitors seek quality content. Something got them to your website, but in order to motivate them to return, your site has to demonstrate some degree of promise that they will receive additional benefit on each return. Fail to do this and they will likely not make the effort to come back.
On the positive side, the more effectively you do this, the more likely they will return. And if you do your job well, they might even tell others to check out your website.
Despite what some contemporary marketers try to tell you, the old cliche that "Content is King" still holds true. You can design the fanciest website, but what attracts people and what they remember best is the value you give them, and more often than not, that value comes in the form of content.
When using content to encourage visitors to return again and again, there are two important elements to keep in mind:
1) The best content is rich content. That is, informative, insightful, authoritative content that is focused on your niche or theme or whatever pitch you use to attract visitors.
2) Content must be updated regularly; it must be fresh. The more often you can add new, beneficial content, the better. Even loyal visitors will tire of going to a site that seldom exhibits any change.
In my opinion,
web biz marketers should look beyond the simple act of just attracting traffic to their sites. Their plans should include the
next step in the process: how to motivate and encourage visitors to
return. Content rich information is the key because when all is said and done,
website visitors seek quality content.
