When I was new to home based web biz marketing, EVERYthing was new, so I shied away from business and marketing forums for many months. I didn't realize what I was missing!

My skill at promoting home based Internet marketing ideas and opportunities could have been developed quicker if I had visited the forums sooner. However, it is better late than never, as they say, and once I found my way to the forums, I never looked back!

A few blog posts ago, in the Web Bizz Blog post, Web Biz Marketing With the Plug-In Profit Site Opportunity, I wrote about eight great Plug-In Profit Site (PIPS) marketing support systems available to PIPS members.

In today's post, I want to tell you about the Warrior Forum.

More specifically, one section in the Warrior Forum that is dedicated to Plug-In Profit Site members. Of course, it is called the Plug-In Profit Site Support Forum.

PIPS members new and old congregate in this web biz marketing support forum to share ideas and experiences and to offer information, insight and inspiration. It is all aimed at helping each other learn the business of Internet marketing and perform the necessary tasks more effectively and efficiently.

This is a follow-up to my Dec. 17 Web Bizz Blog post, Web Biz Marketing With the Plug-In Profit Site Opportunity, where I wrote about eight very helpful Plug-In Profit Site (PIPS) marketing support systems available for PIPS members to take advantage of.

Today, I am going to briefly highlight some of the training topics in the Plug-In Profit Site 30 Days to Success training guide.

The 30 Days to Success guide is a step-by-step online training resource developed by Stone Evans, the Home Biz Guy, and is free to PIPS members. This free web biz training guide explains how the PIPS program works and exactly how to apply it to its best money-making advantage.

Each day in the guide covers a different topic and different area, aspect or method of successful web biz marketing. The guide provides tips, ideas and various recommended resources to help PIPS members accelerate their web biz marketing progress.

Examples From the 30 Days to Success Guide

Day 1 - Get to Know Your Website: Registered PIPS members get a pre-built website with a domain name of their choosing. My PIPS site is www.StarrBizz.com. You can make it your personal name, a business name, a name directly related to your chosen keywords or whatever you choose.

Day 1 in the training "introduces" you to your new website, explains how it is set up to make money, highlights the six primary affiliate programs being promoted and tells briefly how your PIPS website, built-in autoresponder system and PIPS sales page (see Day 2) are proven sales machines.

Day 25 - Add Google Adsense to Your Website: Start getting paid for "clicks" not just sales.

Day 30 - The Litmus Test: Examining your progress, identifying your web biz marketing strengths and weaknesses and returning to the days in the training guide where you need to focus a bit more to achieve your desired goals.

Newcomers to the home based Internet marketing business often feel overwhelmed by the amount of information that is thrown their way. Suffering from information overload, they get lost in "strange" industry terms and phrases and don't exactly know how to prioritize the recommended steps to web biz marketing success.

Internet marketing coaches and mentors do their best to provide guidance, but again, there is just so much to learn and it is all inter-related. It takes the student time to become familiar with the marketing methods, the priorities and the jargon.

When I was new, "SEO" was one of the terms used freely by "experienced" web biz marketers, but seldom explained well enough for a newbie like me.

==> SEO stands for "Search Engine Optimization"

Basically, SEO is the process of "optimizing" your website, blogs, articles and other online resources so the Internet search engines will more quickly index them and add them to the results pages when people do online searches for particular words and phrases.

Effective SEO is important because it can drive your website to the first page of the search engine results, and websites on the first pages get the most traffic.

When I was new to the home based Internet marketing business, I knew nothing about SEO or the 3 key steps to search engine success. I understood nothing of the importance of keywords or onsite optimization or offsite optimization.

I knew that in offline marketing uniqueness was the name of the advertising game: you created a unique name, catchy phrases and flashy advertising to get the prospect's attention.

However, marketing your web biz opportunities online is a different story. An online business with an established web presence might be able to use similar offline techniques effectively online, but the average web biz marketing enthusiast, and especially the newbie, needs to first follow established SEO practices to get their websites indexed and on the search engine radar screens.

What's In A Name?

The web biz SEO starting point for most home based Internet marketing newbies should be their domain name. Unfortunately, by the time most of us discover how important this is, it's too late. We have already selected our domain name and have spent a lot of time and money promoting it.

I am a prime example. I chose StarrBizz.com (with two r's and two z's) to be unique. I chose the blog title, GT Bulmer Web Bizz Blog (again, two z's in bizz) to be unique.

If you do an Internet search for StarrBizz or StarrBizz.com and if you do a search for web bizz or web bizz blog, you will see my site and my pages on the first pages of the search engine results.

That's great ... but ... people who don't already know "StarrBizz.com" will not think of keying it into a search field, and few people will key in "bizz" with two z's or "GT Bulmer" unless they have already found my website or my Web Bizz Blog page and are checking me out.

What I should have done to help accelerate my web biz success in the beginning was selected the keywords that I wanted to target for search engine optimization, then used those keywords in my domain and blog names.

Thanks to a new understanding of SEO based on insight into the 3 steps to search engine success, I am finding alternative ways to compensate for and overcome the challenges of having a "unique" domain name and "unique" blog name.

So, my web biz SEO success tip for today is, when choosing a website or blog page name, consider basing it on your targeted keywords for maximum search engine optimization effectiveness.

What's in a name? SEO success - THAT's what's in a name. It can make a huge difference in your web biz marketing success.

When you post your email address (or any text) on a website with HREF HTML coding, search engines AND spambots can read it. The spambots collect it and add it to a database, later to be mass emailed with unwanted spam.

Until now, I thought the way to protect my email from those spambots was simply to remove it from my web pages. But how do visitors contact you if you do that?

This is an unexpected Part Three to my HTML How-To series. I'll try to focus mostly on the "How To" part in this post so you can focus on YOUR home based web biz marketing success, not mine!

I hadn't originally planned a three-part personal introspection focusing on my HTML How-To experiences, but events conspired this week to cause it to happen.

A construction crew tore up our telephone lines this week and it was several days before a temporary fix could be put in place. As a result, my Internet access was inhibited, and therefore my ability to effectively research and write articles or blog posts.

I never knew how much I depended on the Internet for my home based web biz marketing and freelance writing activities!

Okay. Back to HTML How-To: What Do I Know!

We know from Part One and Part Two that HTML is a markup language: HTML stands for "Hyper Text Markup Language."

* A markup language uses a set of annotations to text that determines how the text is to be displayed - for example bold, italics, underline, headings, paragraphs, lists, etc.

* HTML is written in the form of tags surrounded by angle brackets, like this: < >. In addition to describing the structure of text-based information in a document it is also used to describe the structure of interactive forms, images and various other page elements.

* HTML tags usually come in pairs that include opening and closing tags. A start tag is placed before the text that is being formatted and an end tag after the text. For example, if you want to make the text bold, you would include a "b" tag or a "strong" tag before the text (with angle brackets around the "b" or the "strong" - not quotation marks). To close the bold tag, at the end of the text, you would include a forward slash in the tag - for example, /b or /strong surrounded by the angle brackets < >.

* If you miss the opening tag, the formatting will not take effect.

* If you miss the closing tag, you risk formatting the entire remainder of your document with (in this example) the bold command.

Common HTML tags, and the ones I use most often, include:
(angle brackets must be used but are not shown here)

- b or strong - for bold text

- u - for underlines

- i - for italics

- body - for the document text body

- title - for titles

- h1 and h2 - for headers or headlines

- p - for paragraph

- br - for line break (note: no closing tag used for line breaks)

- a href="http://www.starrbizz.com" (with angle brackets before the a and after the .com") followed by YourName.com or any keyword text you choose, and closed with the /a tag (with angle brackets before and after the /a). This is a hypertext link or anchor text link.

* Remember to always include the respective closing tag for each markup command you give (unless otherwise indicated).

The tags I have included here are simply the basic ones I am most familiar with. Other markup tags are used to display various text and page elements to give your text and web pages more detailed structure.

Many excellent HTML guides are available on the Internet and can be found by doing a search for HTML How To.

* One guide is the Introduction to HTML available from w3schools.com.

To create and edit your HTML documents and web pages you will need to use an HTML editor. Many free HTML editors can be found by doing an Internet search.

As technology advances, the need for home based web biz marketing enthusiasts to know and use HTML is diminishing. Newer editing programs are making it simpler to do web page changes without HTML knowledge or ability.

However, I still consider it valuable to have a basic understanding of HTML How-To. It can come in handy and it is one more resource that can empower your ability to advance your web biz marketing success. Works for me!

For some home based Internet business marketers, learning HTML is a huge challenge. However, with a little patience and a little persistence, you CAN master the basics for Web Biz Success!

In yesterday's Web Bizz Blog, I mentioned the mystery of HTML, emphasized the importance and value of lifelong learning and the guidance of experienced mentors and outlined some of the HTML basics.

Today:

A Struggle, an Alarming Experience and a Breakthrough

For me, in the beginning, learning HTML well enough to make changes to my StarrBizz.com website was a real struggle. Some of the basics, like bold, underline and italics were easy. Setting up hypertext links wasn't too difficult. And I quickly got the hang of linking images.

But working with other web page elements proved to be more challenging. Like how to properly place new text boxes so I could insert text or banners or other features exactly where I wanted to on the page.

It was months before the HTML code to do that started making sense to the point where I knew what I was doing and understood why I was doing it. It has to do with how tables and frames are set up in the background code, understanding where they start and end, and how they relate to each other in that code.

Then there was the alarming experience I had with my Web Biz Blog template. One time, early on in my HTML experience, I was making what I thought was a very simple change to the template and wham! There went the entire template formatting!

All kinds of strange characters showed up on the actual web page; text was missing and replaced with HTML code and code words; links to other page elements, plus archived stories and a few other very important things no longer functioned properly. The whole thing was messed up.

I looked at the source code and tried to correct the errors, but nothing I did would reverse or resolve the mess completely. As an HTML newbie, I was terror-stricken for the better part of a day as I tried to get my blog fixed.

Eventually, I restored the template from my backup copy (thank goodness for the wisdom of doing a backup copy!), then went back and made that simple original change using a different method, and everything turned out fine.

My struggles with HTML continued for a number of months until one day, a breakthrough! It was like an awakening. I was busy working on some site changes when suddenly it dawned on me ... I KNEW what I was doing!

Whereas before I felt like I was flying blind, applying hit and miss changes, having to double check and review every little thing to see if it worked or not, this time I was zipping through with complete awareness, understanding ... and confidence! What a great feeling of empowerment.

I still have a long ways to go to fully grasp the intricacies of HTML. But now that I know the basics and feel somewhat competent and confident, I am encouraged to forge ahead.

If you are new to HTML, or have some experience but are struggling with the challenge, be encouraged: it does get better with time. Give it a chance, stick with it and chances are you will experience a breakthrough, too.

Once again, I emphasize the value of lifelong learning and a commitment to practice and persistence.

In the long run, you will benefit on a personal level and you will be better able to effectively promote your home based Internet business ideas and opportunities. Learn the basics of HTML how-to and you will enjoy greater web biz marketing success. That's what I know!

When you're new to Web Biz Marketing, everything is a mystery, and I think for many home based Internet business opportunity marketers like me nothing is more mysterious than HTML!

When I first started developing my home based web biz and started promoting Internet business ideas and opportunities I was a complete newbie to HTML.

HTML stands for "Hyper Text Markup Language" and it is a language that was totally foreign to me!

Sure, others who had gone before tried to convince me that HTML wasn't all that difficult to understand and learn. But when you look at a page of text filled with odd characters in weird formations, and you know that altering or deleting even a few of those characters could mess up your whole web page (it happened to me!), you get a little leery about attempting the task.

Fortunately, I have two things going for me:

1) I am devoted to lifelong learning, and even though I get frustrated easily (ask my marketing mentors!), I am able to stay focused and committed to learning the new things I want to learn. It may take time, but I manage it because experience has taught me that it is well worth it in the long run.

2) I found a mentorship group with the experience, knowledge and patience to guide and instruct me in my quest for home based web biz marketing success. And it turned out that several of them have great insight into HTML and SEO (search engine optimization).

HTML, What Do I Know? A VERY Brief Overview of the Basics

HTML is a markup language. A markup language uses a set of annotations to text that determines how the text is to be displayed - for example bold, italics, underline, headings, paragraphs, lists, etc.

You can tell which files and URLs contain HTML - they usually have .html or .htm in the filename extension.
