Many Internet Marketers and Internet Home Business enthusiasts make the mistake of trying to go it alone when they could easily team up with others of like mind and boost their efforts.

Some call this particular kind of teamwork the Master Mind Principle.

There are various interpretations of what the Master Mind is and how to apply it. I am going to keep my interpretation very simple and basic today.

I first read about the Master Mind, oh, way back last century - roughly somewhere around the '80s - in the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Think and Grow Rich was originally published in 1937, I believe, and has since sold millions of copies.

Hill's definition of Master Mind: "Coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose."

Internet Marketers can apply this concept to everything from simple peer support and mutual encouragement, to joint venture agreements, to complete business partnerships.

The idea behind the Master Mind is to draw upon each other's knowledge, experience, skills and strengths plus their levels of confidence, focus and commitment to the chosen goal or purpose.

When you go it alone, you may hit moments of doubt or indecision that inhibit or completely block your progress. When you Master Mind with others your strength and resolve are magnified, empowering you to easily push through those same barriers.

If you work well with others, joint venture agreements and business partnerships may be a good choice for you. Within those arrangements, each party assumes duties and responsibilities best suited to their skills and abilities. Where one is weak, the other will compensate, and vice versa. Success and achievement are thereby accelerated.

If you are not interested in a formal business commitment, you can still use the Master Mind to enhance your progress. Simply "buddy up" with one or more marketer with similar interests and goals and make an informal commitment to encourage and counsel each other as needs arise.

For example, I am a member of a particular group of focused Internet Marketers who communicate via a specialized, members-only business forum on a daily basis. We share marketing ideas, experiences and insights that inspire and encourage each other. When we have marketing questions beyond our own experience, or run into personal roadblocks, we take them to this Master Mind group and get the answers or encouragement that we need to overcome the obstacle.

This group goes beyond the typical, generalized online business forum. We act as trusting confidantes, sensitive to each other's needs and goals. We often share a depth of insight and opinion that we would otherwise hold back in regular forums.

That is the nature, the spirit and the trust of the Master Mind. When you enjoy that level of freedom of expression, the actions you take to build your business will become as bold as the questions you ask of your Master Mind group.

For many people, one secret to success and achievement is the ability to replace "poverty consciousness" with "prosperity consciousness." This is also a key to survival during economic downturns.

I'm hearing talk these days of economic downturns in certain regions of the world. Business people in those regions are concerned about the impact the downturns may have on their sales and income, and rightly so.

Economic downturns are nothing new. Most of us have lived long enough to know that such downturns, depressions and recessions are cyclical and bound to happen from time to time. Various factors trigger them. Various factors bring them out again.

The challenge is building strength into your source(s) of income to withstand the inevitable economic fluctuations. This takes a bit of foresight and planning.

One way to build strength is to diversify your income streams so you are not dependent on just one. Another way is to build a business foundation that is not dependent on a local or regional economy.

Internet Marketing as an ideal way to both diversify your income and assure economic independence.

I think the benefits of Internet Marketing are probably obvious to most people. Very simply put, you can reach a larger group of people faster and with less expense than traditional marketing and advertising. Specifically, you can reach prospective customers who are not affected by your local economy.

While the benefits are obvious, buy-in to the concept of Internet Marketing and Internet Home Business is not always so quickly embraced.

In my experience, the reason is because some people are more focused on saving money than they are on making money. They are more obsessed with "protecting" what little they have than with taking steps to increase their wealth.

I don't argue the value and importance of budgeting and being cautious with how, when and where you spend your money. I'm just saying don't let the fear of poverty blind you or paralyze you to the possibilities of prosperity.

In other words, focus your thoughts on making money instead of on being broke or poor.

When you focus on the positive side of an issue instead of on the negative side, all sorts of creative and inspirational thoughts and opportunities begin to materialize. Simply consider all possibilities that could move you forward, then choose the best ones to suit your present needs, interests and budget.

If you are concerned about your budget, not to worry. Time and money are interchangeable. Save money by using less costly methods to build your business. It may take more time, but it will still move you towards your income goals. Speed isn't the issue: only forward motion.

The talk I hear from some marketers these days is that they plan to cut back their marketing activity to save money during the economic downturn. If their customers are mostly local or regional, that may or may not be a good short-term solution.

However, for the long term, I say they should consider diversifying their business by adding extra income streams and taking advantage of opportunities on the Internet to create that diversification. This will allow them to create a hedge against their locally depressed economy.

If you currently have an Internet Home Business, or are considering starting one, I say use the Internet and "think prosperity," not poverty, for ultimate success, achievement and personal satisfaction.

Many years ago, while learning the ropes in traditional offline business, I picked up a motivational concept that has stuck with me all my life. It can be applied to business and to life in general.

The concept is this: You are never standing still. If you are not moving forward, you are moving backward.

Basically, what that means is you always have to be thinking and planning ahead and taking steps to improve and develop your business. You cannot rest on today's success. You cannot trust that your business practices today will continue to be effective tomorrow.

Thinking ahead isn't always easy. Sometimes, we get so wrapped up in the urgency of today's marketing activity that we fail to take time to seriously think about tomorrow. I know I am like that. I run out of time each day and blame my poor focus on planning on being too busy.

Sometimes, events conspire in our favour in a backwards sort of way.

If you have read my last few blog posts, you will know that family matters have kept me busy the past few weeks. In particular, I've been doing a lot of highway driving. Over the past seven days, I think I have spent almost as many waking hours on the road as I have doing anything else.

Since I can't do computer or Internet work while driving down the highway, the only other thing I can do when not engaged in conversation is exercise my brain. So, I used the time to think about my Internet Home Business in general and Niche Marketing in particular.

Right now, my Internet Marketing focus is fairly general. I promote a portfolio of affiliate programs and services, plus a few other products and services. I will keep building on that generalized foundation, but I am planning also to create a highly focused niche site or two.

I have a few Niche Marketing guides plus some other sources of information to review before I make any decisions. As I learn about the advantages and methods of Niche Marketing I will write more about it here in future blog posts.

For now, I must resign myself to the "thinking" stage of my Niche Market research because over the next several days, I am committed to helping another family member with a project, then my spouse and I are off next week on another long road trip to a short family reunion. Uh, the reunion is short, not the family.

Busy, busy.

I said it before and I'll say it again - thank goodness my Internet Home Business is built on systems that keep running whether I'm here or not. You can bet I'll use the same systems to accelerate my Niche Marketing sites when I get them going.

Who, What, When, Where, Why

One effective format used in the journalism trade is the 5W system: Who, What, When, Where, Why. Try it with your next blog post or article.

Choose a topic to write about, then write two paragraphs under each of the 5W headings:

Who

Joe Bloe is a leading marketer who I admire because of his skill at generating website traffic...

What

I learned that Joe was introducing a new and unique 3-Step Traffic Generation System and I was intrigued by its simplicity...

When

I got the chance to question Joe about his 3-Step system when we were introduced during a conference call in July...

Where

It was really cool because at the time, Joe was doing business from his yacht in the Pacific and I was hiking high in the Canadian Rockies - you really can do this business anywhere!

Why

I wanted to pick Joe's brain because I just knew that his 3-Step system would be of great interest and benefit to my website visitors. Now that I have all the details, I'm ready to share the information with anybody looking for a better traffic generation system.

Okay, I just threw that example together because I'm in a hurry. If you're writing an article, you might want to make it less promotional and more informational. Also, you can change the order of the 5Ws however best suits your needs, and you don't have to include all of the Ws if your story doesn't need them all. (Writing can be VERY flexible.)

The more systems and formulas you can develop for your online business, the better, just as long as they don't become too mechanical and your style or personality is lost.

I've been busy lately, due to personal demands on my time, so I have been relying on systems to keep my Internet Business going. Thank goodness.

We were away, then home for a few days, but are now heading out again to take some family members back to their home province. If this sort of thing starts happening too often, I'm going to have to get someone else to pilot the vehicle so I can open my notebook computer and work on my Internet Home Business while flying down the highway!

I'm still making blog posts on the fly, not wanting to let personal demands on my time interfere too much with my Internet Home Business activity. But this week, my business activity is losing ground!

I'm back home, but we are entertaining company for a few days and have to take them out visiting relatives and friends. It makes it a real challenge to get anything done with my Internet Marketing business.

What I really want to be doing is writing articles for article directories, working on changes to my website and making other site optimization improvements. Also, I should be focusing on such marketing and promotional activities as participation in online business forums and discussion groups, making submissions to website directories, and working on developing a presence in some of the social networking communities.

But, I'm not getting any of that done and it is frustrating. Some might say that I am a workaholic; I need to relax, take some time off. But the way I see it, I just know what I like, and what I like is writing, marketing and online business promotion. When I do these things I feel good because I am being productive, using my skills and making progress towards my personal goals. What's wrong with that?

Internet Marketing is not "work" to me. It is a step by step process of building a foundation for ongoing financial success - and I enjoy the process. The income I earn is a bonus, a reward for diligence and perseverance.

Not that I don't need the income to pay bills like everybody else. If I wasn't building my Internet Home Business I would have to get a J.O.B. outside of the home ... and THAT I would definitely NOT enjoy. (Been there. Done that. Never liked it.)

Which brings me back to the situation at hand: the unavoidable interruptions to my Internet Marketing activity this week. I enjoy the socializing, to a degree. But my marketing work is not getting done.

Fortunately, as I have mentioned before, the great thing about Internet Marketing is that your business keeps on running even when you are not. Once you have your marketing websites set up, get some advertising going, create a presence in business forums and social network sites, set up your autoresponder and email marketing campaign, and a few other things, your Internet Home Business will have a strong enough foundation to thrive without you during those times you have to be away from it.

A traditional job just doesn't allow the same kind of flexibility. For me, the best choice I made was to leave the corporate world and start building my home business seriously.

I realize that not everybody can just up and quit their jobs ... and you don't have to. You can start building your Internet Marketing business part time, then phase your regular job out as your marketing income increases.

Internet Marketing isn't for everybody. It does take focus, commitment and effort just like any business, but the greatest benefit is, once you get it rolling, it takes far less effort to maintain the flow than a traditional business, and you can be earning residual income for many years to come.

I am using the Plug-In Profit Site marketing plan as the foundation for my online business. It's a great plan that includes marketing websites, affiliate income opportunities and an email marketing campaign, plus a built in training program and an excellent peer support group. New members are always welcome!

For me, it may be a few more weeks before my Internet Home Business activities get back on track again. In the mean time, despite my frustration, I know my foundation is firm, so about all I can do for now is simply grin and bear it.

I am away from home for a few days, so I'm writing this on the fly. That's the great thing about an Internet Home Business - you can do it anywhere and even when you're not working at it, your Internet Marketing business just keeps right on going!

Hmm... a person should write an eBook on that subject. ;-)

You can write - and market - an electronic book on any subject. There are numerous ways to use an eBook: they're a great product to sell for profit, or give away to attract subscribers to your email list, or use as a promotional lead-in to advertise and promote your Internet Home Business.

You can write the eBook yourself, or hire a ghostwriter, or joint venture with another Internet Marketer who has the knowledge and writing skills but not the time to format the eBook and prepare it for electronic distribution.

Many software programs are available to help you format and design your eBook and prepare it for electronic delivery to your online customers or subscribers. Do a search and you'll find at least a few.

One concern I've always had about marketing an eBook is security: more specifically, information theft.

How do you protect your eBook from being distributed free without your permission or knowledge? How do you keep customers from copying or printing information contained in your eBook and giving it away to others?

If you want to control distribution, for example, to make sure you get paid for every sale, or if a customer requests a refund and you want to deactivate their access to the eBook, then you need security features in your publishing software to protect you.

While poking around the Net looking for eBook publishing software with these kinds of security features, I found eBookGold 3.0. I'm sure there is other software out there with features as good, but I was truly impressed with the range of both publishing and security features offered by eBookGold 3.0.

Today, I am going to wax eloquent (but briefly) on the benefits of lifelong learning, and I'm going to give you a few quick tips on how to improve your blog posts and articles to get better results for your Internet Home Business.

I am a dedicated lifelong learner. I believe in the value and wisdom of continually adding to your knowledge base and learning new things, or learning more about the things you already know something about.

Knowledge is power. It empowers you with the information, abilities and confidence you need to stretch beyond your limits. Knowledge is the catalyst that propels you towards your goals, allows you to break free from the limiting realm of the impossible and march triumphantly into the unlimited realm of the possible.

You get knowledge by reading or by listening to audio. The sources are endless, of course, so it helps to narrow your focus to a particular field to draw the most immediate value from it.

My focus right now is Internet Marketing and developing my Internet Home Business. My reading and research choices are diverse: training sites, membership sites, forums and discussion boards, home business blogs, autoresponder subscriptions, ebooks.

Lately, I've been visiting and reading a lot of business blogs. I mean, a LOT of business blogs. The variety of writing styles and content delivery is as different as the personalities of the various Internet Home Business enthusiasts who write the blog posts.

Many of these business bloggers present information, ideas and insight in a way that truly amazes me. I am in awe of their ability to write with such authority and with such purposeful clarity of meaning.

I read these blogs with a dual purpose in mind:
1) To learn from the content they are presenting;
2) To learn from their writing and presentation style.

On occasion, I also run into blogs that are a little more challenging to read. Blogs that either have a layout structure that is tedious or tiring to read (I'm tempted to give up), or have content that is rambling, unfocused and unclear in its meaning, purpose or intent.

I admit that even though I call myself a writer, I am still learning the trade and I do still make my share of mistakes and transgressions. However, please let me share a couple of basic writing tips that may be of benefit to those who are looking for ideas to sharpen up their articles and blogs.

A Simple Structure For Writing Blogs And Articles

a) Introduction: One or two brief paragraphs

b) Body: Three key points of 1-3 brief paragraphs each

c) Close: One or two brief paragraphs

Introduction

Your opening paragraph, or introduction, should serve two specific purposes. It should instantly grab the reader's attention, sparking their interest in wanting to know more. Also, it should immediately hint at what the topic or theme of the article is going to be centred around.

Many readers - especially Internet readers - are highly transient. They are in a hurry, they know what they are looking for and many will make a snap judgement from your opening paragraph whether or not they are going to bother reading more. If your introduction doesn't get their attention and give them a hint of what to expect, many will simply click away from your site.

Sometimes, it can be effective to follow up the introduction with a brief paragraph that tells the reader what your key points are going to be. This helps the reader to know what to expect and to be more tuned in to the points as they come up.

Body

Most blog posts, and the average article, are not intended to be extensive works of insight or revelation. You just want to share a little bit of information or experience with your readers.

In a simple article, I recommend focusing on one specific subject (in your headline and introductory paragraph) and providing just three key points of 1-3 brief paragraphs each to highlight or support the topic.

You can use brief headings, numbers or bullets for each key point. This highlights them as separate points. Headings work best when you have issues with text formatting.

I suggest three key points because information presented in point form is more interesting and much easier to follow than one long rambling description of something. The points break up your text and help your reader to focus on specific bits of information that may be beneficial to them.

You may have noticed that I have been emphasizing the term "brief." In most cases, unless you are an experienced and talented scribe, readers get tired and bored with long descriptions or instructions. Decide on your most relative key points, then whittle your wording down to the most basic and meaningful description you can manage.

Additionally, break your text into short paragraphs. Once again, it helps the reader focus better and stay interested in reading more.

One more recommendation, keep your key points and descriptions tightly focused on your main topic or subject. It can be distracting if you stray off topic, then say something like, "But that's a topic for another blog," or "But I don't have time (or room) to talk about that today." Readers may feel cheated when you do that. Edit the off-topic stuff out and stay away from it.

Close

Like the introduction, I recommend a one-to-two paragraph close.

One paragraph can be a recap of your article: "In today's post, I highlighted the value of lifelong learning, how knowledge is power and I gave you a simple 3-Step structure for drafting basic blogs and articles."

The purpose of the recap is to remind your reader of the important details they just learned in the blog or article and to help anchor the memory of that information in their minds.

The second closing paragraph is your send-off or call to action.

You can either make some enthusiastic and encouraging comment relating to your main topic, then wish your reader success. Or you can make an enthusiastic suggestion to the reader to look into the topic further or get more information by following a recommended action, and then wish your reader success.

Once again, I emphasize the value of keeping these comments brief and on topic and keeping the paragraphs short: one or two sentences, preferably.

What I have given you here is a simple structure for basic blogs and articles. Obviously, this isn't the only structure you can use, and this structure may not fit every purpose. But it is basic and if you want to create clear, meaningful blog posts and articles, you can't go wrong if you follow this outline.

Overall, in today's post I highlighted the value of lifelong learning, how I believe that knowledge is power and I gave you a simple 3-Step structure for drafting basic blogs and articles. If you work at improving your writing and communication skills, you will become a better blogger and will enjoy greater marketing success.

Thinking back to a comparison I read a few years ago between personal success and horseracing, I thought it would be interesting to relate the idea to Internet Marketing.

The comparison noted how in so many cases the winning horse wins only "by a nose."

The winner may not be significantly faster or better than the second place finisher, but the reward for winning is usually quite significantly higher.

Imagine earning 10 times the reward for an effort that is only marginally better?

Personal success in life can be like that. And financial success in an Internet Home Business can definitely be like that.

Sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of extra effort to push yourself past your competition. You find a spark of inspiration from somewhere that ignites a burst of strength that is just enough to help you stretch beyond your limits and beyond "less motivated" marketers.

The result is you get to a potential customer first, or your advertising copy is just a little sharper, or your website has just a few more back links than the average, improving your search engine rankings, or your blog or social networking site offers a bit better quality content.

Winning By A Nose Takes So Little Extra Effort

A few minutes extra effort each day will add up to hours over the course of time and those hours will translate into rewards that will far outweigh anything the second place finisher is going to receive.

Today, I have some good news and I have some bad news. First, the bad news: few people ever get rich QUICK in Internet Marketing. Now the good news: many people do learn to earn a good income with their Internet Home Business, and some DO get rich from it!

Did you happen to catch the real "secret to success" that I just gave you in my opening paragraph? Look again and see if you can identify it.

The secret to success in most forms of marketing, including online marketing and Internet Home Business, is to "Learn to Earn." Unfortunately, for most people the process of learning is seldom a quick one.

It takes time to figure out WHAT you need to know to achieve home business success. It takes time to find dependable sources that can TEACH you what you need to know. It takes time to PRACTICE what you have learned until you can apply it effectively. And it takes time to REPEAT those actions again and again until you have established a reputation, a strong customer base and financial success.

Personally, my biggest "learning" problem has always been the old "you don't know what you don't know" paradox. It always takes ME time to figure out what the question IS before I can even begin to know what to ask.

Fortunately, I am persistent, I am confident and I believe in the concept of learning from other successful people who have gone before me. That still doesn't mean there is a quick way to Internet Marketing riches. It just means that a lot of the mystery and frustration is removed and the process of learning and Internet Home Business development is quickened.

Unfortunately, some people still think there is an easy way to get rich quick.

They put up a website, add a few affiliate programs and expect the world to beat a path to their door.

Now, a website is a great idea. But expecting immediate success without learning proper marketing techniques just isn't going to make it happen.

After a few weeks, they begin to realize there is more to this Internet Marketing "thing" than they first expected. They monitor their website traffic statistics and soon get the idea that attracting traffic to their site is going to be a little more challenging than they thought.

For those who stick with it, then begins the process of learning how and where to advertise and how to use a variety of other online marketing methods to promote their business. And for those who are seriously determined, success usually finds its way to their door.

So, the good news still remains! You CAN learn to earn a great income if you are willing to take the time and follow the steps to do what you have to do to achieve the results that you desire.

~ And most importantly, I take steps every single day of the week to practice and apply the various marketing methods I am learning. I do not allow any excuses to skip a day. I make a point to do SOMEthing every day that moves my home business forward.

But building a successful online business isn't all rosy, I'll have you know. There are challenges, just like any other business, and it all takes time, focus and effort, just like any other business.

One of the biggest challenges is getting customers. And just like any other business, online customers need to be encouraged. They want to feel noticed and appreciated. They want to know that you recognize their needs and respect their buying decisions.

One of the best ways to show your appreciation is through a Customer Reward Program. Reward your customers for making repeat purchases and they, in turn, will appreciate you and will be more inclined to make additional purchases over time.

1) Number Of Purchases
