Make More Money: People welcome ideas and opportunities to start their own business, or earn extra income to invest in things like real estate or the stock market. Making more money, or simply having a plan in place to make more money, makes them feel successful.

Save Money: People want to sock some money away for the future or save for a big purchase. Money in the bank makes them feel more secure. Offer them the opportunity to save more money now.

Save Time: People pay attention to ways to save time. Everybody wants to work less and enjoy the luxury of spending more time enjoying life's pleasures.

Look Better, Feel Better: People may want to lose weight, tone their body or find ways to improve their facial features. This will make them feel more attractive.

Live Longer: People know that if they get in shape and eat better, they will feel healthier, gain extra energy and stand a far better chance of living longer and enjoying life more. If your ad or site content can use the "Live Longer" trigger, it will catch the eye of the visitor.

Be More Popular: Many people seek praise and admiration. They may want to be more popular in their community, in their business or social organization or in school. Some may seek to become famous.

Motivational triggers can be effective in generating more sales for your Internet Home Business.

When you use motivational triggers in your advertising or in your website content, be honest and truthful. Only use the triggers if you can deliver on the promise. Visitors will soon recognize if you are trying to deceive them and they will soon learn to avoid your offers if they lose faith in your sincerity.

If you want to build a successful Internet Home Business, you have to create an email list. Persuading your website visitors to GIVE you their email addresses can be challenging! Here's a few ideas that will help.

One of the biggest challenges facing all online business, including Internet home business, is building an email list of potential customers and clients. Everybody knows how important that is.

A list gives you a targeted group of prospects to whom you can present and promote additional products and services.

However, in this day and age, you can't collect email addresses from just anywhere and start sending those recipients your email messages. You have to first get permission to add people to your list.

You need to encourage people to willingly opt in to your list. If you give them a good enough reason to opt in, you will enjoy greater success in your list-building efforts.

Here are a few ideas that I use, or that have been recommended to me by fellow Internet home business marketers and online business mentors.

1. Ask visitors to subscribe to your free newsletter or e-zine. If you can offer them some sort of additional freebie when they subscribe, all the better.

2. Have them sign-up to get access to download a free ebook. The subject of the ebook should be related to your target audience. Here are 3 Free ebooks you can pick up from me!

3. If you have a free member's only area inside of your web site, offer them a free membership. Have them sign-up with their name and email to receive a user name and password.

4. Offer your visitors free consulting via e-mail. Have them fill out a web form to e-mail you with their questions.

5. Hold an interactive poll on your web site. Ask your visitors to e-mail you their vote or opinion.

6. Have visitors fill out a survey on your web site. Give them a free gift as an incentive to complete the form.

7. Ask visitors to sign your guest book. Tell them they will get a free gift in return.

8. Allow visitors to submit a free classified ad on your web site. Require them to give a valid e-mail address in order to post an ad.

9. Give people who visit your web site a free marketing course sent via autoresponder. Just ask them to fill out their contact information to receive the free course. If you want some tips on creating a course, or if you need content to create a course, check out InfoGoRound.

Okay. I'm hooked! It hasn't all been smooth sailing, but so far, my NEW experiences with Internet Home Business forums and discussion boards has been GREAT! Here's an update ... and a few important forum tips for you.

A few weeks ago I mentioned here that one of my Internet Home Business mentors encouraged his marketing students to branch out on the World Wide Web and visit some additional online business forums and discussion boards.

Well, I'm not one to doubt the wisdom of an experienced mentor, so I followed his sage advice, and now look what has happened to me! I'm hooked!

What a great experience it has been, so far, and a real eye-opener. Not only am I picking up some great insight into a variety of Internet Home Business ideas and opportunities, but I am also meeting some interesting home business marketers AND I am discovering new things about online marketing.

One thing that is a bit challenging, though, is learning how to set up your profile and navigate through each of the different forums and discussion groups. Some have similar formats, but some are quite a bit different and take some time and effort to figure out.

The other challenge is setting up your signature! That is a very important element, or benefit, of forums and discussion boards - the privilege of including your signature, which is, in effect, a form of advertising and promotion for your website, your products or your services.

Your signature should not be the focus or the purpose of your participation in a particular forum or discussion board, but if you are going to be there anyway, why not take full advantage of the opportunity, right?

The challenge I'm having is, some forums allow you to set up your signature using HTML code - that's the arrow brackets: < >. Some allow BBCode, using the [ ] brackets. BBCode is a special implementation of HTML. It includes tags to allow you to quickly change the basic style of your text, for example, adding bold, italics or underlines.

As a relatively new student to HTML and BBCode, I sometimes have quite a time getting my signature sorted out and set up properly! It seems that not all forums provide instructions on this. Also, each forum has different rules about the length of the signature information.

It's good to be able to figure out the HTML and/or BBCode requirements because when you set up a forum signature, you should use hyperlinked text, rather than just your plain old web link.

For example, I usually write something like, "Read GT's Web Bizz Blog!" and hyperlink that text to my http://www.starrbizz.com/blog address. I recommend you do the same with your website and any affiliate link you might include in your signature.

Not only is participation in online business forums a great way to help promote your Internet Home Business, but it is, as I have mentioned, educational and inspirational too. Here are a couple of tips to help you get the most value out of online Internet Marketing business forums:

1) Before jumping in with comments, take some time to tour the forum site to become familiar with it. Read the rules and FAQs. Review the index listing of the various topic threads.

2) Read comments in the various topic threads to get a "feel" for the "personality" of the particular group. The more closely you can match and mirror the style of the participants, the better able you will be to offer comments at their level and fit in with the community.

3) Before posting comments, always remember this very important rule of forum and discussion board etiquette: keep your comments relative to the subject. Nobody appreciates somebody coming out of left field with an unrelated comment.

Three Types Of Messages To Post

1) Informative Comments

Post information that would be informative to the people who participate in that forum or discussion board. I would caution you to keep your comments brief. However, if there are appropriate threads, you could post an article or a study you've completed.

2) Ask Questions

Post a question on the discussion board you would like answered. This will give you a chance to meet other experts and experienced marketers and could lead to a profitable joint venture.

3) Answer Questions

Post answers to questions asked by other forum members. When you answer questions effectively, you will become known as an expert on the subject. It's an excellent way to develop your image as a trusted source of information and insight.

For me, forums and discussion boards are an important part of my daily online marketing routine. I learn so much, receive so much valuable inspiration and encouragement, and feel that I am contributing to the online business and Internet Marketing community.

I've said this before: When you run an Internet Home Business, you are in business for yourself, but you are not in business by yourself. Here are a few tips on how to use the Master Mind principle to accelerate your success.

I first heard that saying about being in business FOR yourself but not BY yourself decades ago and I like to remind people of the truth and value in the statement. Basically, what it means is there are many knowledgeable and experienced people willing to help you or encourage you with information, or training, or some form of support if you are willing to ask for it.

It can also mean "teaming up" with another Internet marketer to strengthen and even accelerate your Internet Home Business. In a moment, I'll give you some tips on exactly HOW to team up or "Master Mind" with others, but first, a little history on the Master Mind principle.

I think my first true exposure to the Master Mind concept came (again, several decades ago!) from the book, Think and Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill. Chapter 10 focuses exclusively on the Power of the Master Mind.

Hill calls the Master Mind the "driving force" in the quest for personal and financial success.

"Power is essential for success in the accumulation of money," he states in his guide, defining "Master Mind" as the "coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose."

Internet Home Business enthusiasts can easily put the power of the Master Mind to work for them by employing a few simple methods. Here are a few I found for this blog post.

~ Find trusted web sites that relate to your business and exchange text links or banners with them.

~ Identify other Internet Home Business marketers you admire and exchange testimonials or endorsements for each other's products or services.

~ Combine your products or services together with another business into one big package, then promote the package to your own lists and through your own web sites and split the profits.

~ Develop and share a single web site with another business with the same target market. You will each then market and advertise and promote the web site for double the traffic!

~ Offer to insert a promotional ad for another business into your product package. Ask them to do the same for your Internet Home Business in return.

~ Why not team up with related online businesses to create a promotional e-book to give away? Publish your web site ads in the e-book, then give it away for free.

The Master Mind principle is a great way to accelerate your business. Teaming up with others in this way can also inspire and motivate you to greater personal achievement and the realization of even bigger goals than you had ever before dared to imagine.

Applying the Master Mind principle to your Internet Home Business can save you time, effort and money, increase your sales and profits, deliver valuable new referrals and increase your market share. Now, who doesn't want those kinds of benefits?

I have seen the word "sticky" used in Internet Marketing in relation to how well a website holds the attention of a visitor and makes them want to return to the site again and again. So, in that respect, a "sticky" website is obviously a good thing!

If you are interested in improving your Internet Home Business and your sales, you will want to learn and apply ways to help make your website sticky. Here are a few tips I have come up with while looking into this valuable aspect of online marketing.

Original Content Updated Regularly

This is my #1 recommendation and the one I am currently working to develop on my own homepage! Give your visitors content they can't read anywhere else. I'm not saying all your content has to be 100% original, but a portion of your website should have original information and you should update or change that information regularly. People will usually read information they haven't read before.

News

Supply news stories related to your website niche or topic. People want current and up-to-date news. If you can be their first source, or if you can present current news items in a unique or entertaining way, they will become repeat visitors to your website.

Free Stuff

People love to get free stuff - I know I do! List free stuff on your website. It could be things you have developed, or items you get from other sites that you are authorized to give away or sell. It could be software, services, sample products, e-books etc. The freebies should be related to your website topic. Keep the freebies coming and your visitors will return regularly.

Polls

I like this one because you get so many interesting perspectives. Hold an interactive poll on your website. On your homepage, ask visitors a poll question. If you don't have a message board at your site, have them e-mail their vote or opinion. People love to give their two-cents worth. They would also like to see the results posted - another great item of content for your homepage that can be updated regularly!

Quizzes

Here is a fun one - and educational, too! Give your visitors a quiz or a series of trivia questions. Post the correct answers weekly on your website. The people who participate will want to come back to your site to see if they were right. Who knows, maybe they will even link to your site so THEIR visitors can have some online fun, too!

Jokes

While on the topic of entertainment, why not give your visitors a little humor now and then? Internet Home Business doesn't always have to be so serious; tell your visitors a joke. If they associate your website with being happy they will visit again and again. Just remember to keep it reasonably short and definitely family friendly and non-controversial.

Hey! Here's one I just made up: Why did the home-based chicken cross the WWW Information Superhighway? Because she wanted to lay it online! (Groan. I know, I know.)

Prize Drawings

Here's one more kind-of-fun one: Hold an ongoing prize drawing on your website. The prizes should be something of interest or value to your subscribers and, again, something related to your topic or niche. Most people who enter will continually revisit your website to get the results.

Directories

Tell your subscribers about other websites related to your website niche or topic. The sites should be interesting and helpful: be sure to check them out thoroughly before recommending and linking them. Become your readers' website directory and they will come back. Just a word of recommendation, when you add their links be sure to set up the code so they open into a new browser page - you don't want to send your visitors away and lose them entirely!

Internet Home Business is all about attracting visitors to your website, holding their attention while you present your offers, and giving them a reason to want to return again and again.

If you use some of the ideas I have given you today, you will soon have a sticky website that is the envy of other, less informed Internet Marketers.

Many of us network our home businesses almost on a daily basis and may not even realize it. I was thinking about this earlier today and realized that the Internet Marketers who seem to enjoy the most success are the ones who apply methods of networking consciously and do so with planned purpose.

Networking is considered by some to be when two or more businesses or marketers stay in contact on a regular basis for the mutual benefit of building and improving each other's business.

There are many ways to network your business online. Participate in online business related forums, discussion boards, e-mail discussion groups, newsgroups and chat rooms. You can communicate with other business people via e-mail, video conferencing and by using instant messaging programs. You can also join online business associations and clubs.

I have three main online business forums that I participate in on a daily basis. I have also been "touring" around, visiting several other similar forums to get a sense of what other Internet home business enthusiasts are discussing. Although we do share information on our programs, products and services, our main purpose is to exchange marketing ideas and insight, and through this added knowledge, find ways to strengthen and improve our own marketing.

There are many benefits to be gained from networking online.

~ Learn business information that you didn't know before

~ Get advice on how to solve a current business problem

~ Negotiate joint ventures and cross promotion deals

~ Learn important skills that you didn't have before

~ Get constructive criticism that can improve your business

~ Brainstorm with others to come up with new business and marketing ideas or new business projects

In addition to online forums, I also receive mentorship from a group of experienced online marketers who are coaching me to greater productivity and success. I network my learning experiences and achievements with fellow students and through this we encourage and inspire each other.

Based on my own experiences, I cannot stress strongly enough the incredible value that networking can provide for you and your business.

Now, before you go out and get busy networking with other business people, I recommend you plan ahead and focus your efforts. Here is a bit of a guide to help you get the maximum benefit from your online business networking:

~ Know what kind of business information you are seeking.

~ Figure out which marketers, leaders and professionals could give you this information.

~ Know what questions you want to ask them.

When you network your Internet home business in the ways I talked about today, you will certainly accelerate your progress and your online marketing success.

Whether or not you yet have an e-mail list for your Internet home business, there are ways to build your business using surveys.

The reason you would send an e-mail survey to your list is to conduct market research. You want to find out if your customers or subscribers are satisfied with your products or services, or, for example, find out if they enjoyed their visit at your web site.

The information you get through customer surveys can be revealing. It can help you improve your web site, your products, services, advertising, and your overall marketing. Many successful Internet home business marketers are using surveys very effectively to help build their business and there is no reason why you can't, too!

3 Popular Types Of Online Business Surveys

Customer Satisfaction Surveys:

I have suggested a few possible questions. You may have additional questions, or different questions you would like to ask.

I don't know about you, but when I am asked to fill out a survey, I don't always feel like taking the time. But when I am offered some kind of freebie to do it, ah ha, that gets my attention!

To encourage your customers and subscribers to fill out your survey you might consider offering them a free e-book, free advertising, free reports, free internet services or a free e-zine. You could even hold a free online contest or sweepstakes and ask visitors to fill out a survey before they enter.

If you don't yet have an e-mail address list, not to worry: you can still use surveys to the advantage of your Internet home business.

You could post your survey on appropriate newsgroups, forums and e-mail discussion lists. You could also upload survey software to your web site or use a free survey service on the Internet. To find such services, just type in the keyword "survey" in your search engine of choice.

Internet marketing is a great way to make money online and if you have home business ideas and opportunities to promote, an e-mail list of customers and subscribers is your best bet.

Sending out an online survey to your list is one excellent way to help improve and build your business.

Some marketers still emphatically state that "Content is King," while others suggest that it has been dethroned in favour of other forms of marketing.

Despite the debate, content still reigns supreme in my books, especially for those who are new to online marketing and the wonderful world of Internet home business. Whether you write the content yourself or use easy, convenient and readily available private label content, it is still one of your best bets for building a home based online business.

In a few moments, I will share with you some unique and inspiring ways you can use content to get free advertising, but first, a few words about what content is and how it is used in Internet Marketing.

Content is typically the written word presented in articles, reports, news stories, e-books, e-zines, e-mags, e-mail courses, press releases, web books and more and can also be used as the basis for audio and video presentations.

Content is used by marketers, either to directly promote their products, programs or services, or as an informational resource that can be sold or given away as a "freebie" to reward or entice customers.

Now, here are a few exciting ways you can use content to leverage your marketing efforts by getting more free advertising.

How To Use Content To Get Free Advertising

Here are three basic ways:

- You can submit your content free to the variety of publications mentioned above

- You can allow other people to give away or sell your content

- You can have people link to your web site to get your content free. You can even get other site owners to point their visitors to your site for content.

Beginner: Give Away Your Content Online

Giving away content is a powerful way to get free advertising. For example, give other online marketers permission to use your articles or reports on their web site or in their e-zine. Include a resource box at the end of your article and there's your free advertising! It's a win/win situation for both you and the marketers or publishers that need the extra content.

Intermediate: Let Others Give Your Content Away For You

Give your free e-book or series of articles or reports to other marketers with the rights to also give them away. Consider this: if 20 people each give away your e-book to 20 more people, that's a total of 400 people who will see your ad, your signature file or your resource box, included in the material. Keep leveraging yourself like this and imagine the potential!

Advanced: Create A Directory, Let Other Sites Link To It

Over the course of time, most marketers accumulate a virtual library of content they have created. You can take all of your free content and create a directory. Place the directory on your web site and people will have a good reason to bookmark your site and return again and again - maybe even refer your site, or the directory link, to others!

Better yet, you can invite other site owners to add your free content directory to their web site by linking to yours. Everybody is happy: site owners offer added value to their visitors, visitors get great free content, and once again, you massively leverage your exposure. That's "free advertising" and that's what I'm talking about here!

Personally, I still believe that content is King and that smart marketers will keep using content to build their Internet Home Business.

If you work at leveraging your marketing efforts by using the methods I've given you today, you will attract traffic to your web site over and over for many years to come. That's just the way this crazy Internet business works!

Today, I am going to reveal one of my personal idiosyncrasies and I'm going to share something from my Internet home business archives that is worth keeping, worth reviewing and worth sharing.

My name is GT and yes, I am a collector - read, "packrat" - although, there is light at the end of the tunnel in one particular area: electronic archival.

Computer files notwithstanding, my physical shelves are lined with hundreds of books, every genre, all I intend to read again... someday. Some, maybe I will.

My shelves are also lined with hundreds of videos and dvds, from the educational to the entertaining, every genre, all gently placed with a promise that I will return to view them again... someday. Some, maybe I will.

My shelves and cupboards are also filled with countless collectibles, "valuable" items from auctions, online and off, treasures garnered from garage sales, street sales, flea markets and elsewhere. Items that, as I have assured my dear, tolerant spouse, will surely increase in value as time goes on and "someday, when the time is right" I will deign to dispose of via a particular online auction. And someday, maybe I will.

Fortunately, to my credit, my habits in the area of electronic archival are showing some degree of improvement. Especially since fall of last year when I purchased a new computer to help update and advance my Internet home business.

Since that wise move, I have become more selective in the information that I save and store on my computer. I know from experience that the majority of emails received can be deleted once read, and most sources of information or reference can be saved as a link in your browser's Favorites folder, or can be quickly found by doing an Internet search.

However, in contrast, there is SOME Internet Marketing information that I definitely keep for handy reference and do refer back to on a regular basis.

Tested and Proven Ideas and Opportunities: Info Worth Saving

For example, subscribers to my Internet Home Business Tips Newsletter receive several issues each week highlighting various aspects of marketing a home-based Internet business. The info comes from a variety of sources and some of it is not unique to my newsletter. Other marketers may publish it in their newsletters as well.

Subscribers receive a great selection of tested and proven ideas and opportunities guaranteed to help a business or, at the very least, inspire a marketer to greater success and achievement.

You might find this surprising, but I subscribe to my own newsletter and I keep copies on my computer. I do this for two reasons: first, just to keep an eye on my autoresponder system and what is currently being emailed out; second, because the information is so good. Unfortunately, my brain can hold only so much, so I need to keep it handy for quick reference!

Here is a recent example from my StarrBizz.com Internet Home Business Tips Newsletter:

5 Unique Ways To Get Free Advertising

1. Give Testimonials

When you purchase a product or service and it exceeds your expectations e-mail the business a testimonial. Tell them in the testimonial the benefits you got from the product or service. Give them permission to publish the testimonial on the web site if they include your sig file at the end.

2. Leave A Message

When you visit a web site with a discussion board leave a message. You could post a question, interesting content or a compliment about their web site. Include your signature file at the end of the message. Some discussion boards let you post your banner ad or text link.

3. Sign Guest Books

When you visit a well designed web site leave a compliment on their guest book. You could give them a compliment on their content, ease of navigation, graphics etc. When you post your compliment, include your sig file so other people will see it when they sign the guest book.

4. Write A Review

When you visit a web site you enjoyed a lot, write a review for the web site. Write about the benefits you gain from the site, the web site design, interesting online services it offers etc. E-mail the review to the web site. Tell them they can publish it on their web site if they include your resource box at the end.

5. Send An E-mail To The Editor

When you read a good article or enjoy a certain e-zine, e-mail a compliment to the editor. Give the editor permission to publish the compliment in their e-zine if they include your signature file at the end. The editor may post it on his or her web site.

There you go. Now you can see why even I, the publisher of my own newsletter, want to keep the information handy!

I may be considered a "packrat" in some ways, but when it comes to tested and proven Internet home business ideas and opportunities, there is SOME information that is just worth keeping around! Enjoy.

Last year, I was fortunate to find a home-based Internet Marketing system that provides all the tools and resources necessary for success, including a training program that covers all the bases and a support group that helps guide members from start to finish.

One aspect of the training involves Internet home business forums. That is, marketing forums where you can benefit from the information, experience and insight of other marketers, from newbies to pros. And you can actively participate by asking questions and offering your own opinions and experiences.

Our training encourages us to be active in forums by contributing meaningful information that is helpful to other marketers, not just superficial comments.

Initially, I joined two recommended forums and have been active in them ever since. A few months ago, I joined a third forum, this one focused specifically on our marketing program and lead by a team of mentors who are already successful in the program.

Yesterday, one of the mentors in this new forum gave us a new assignment to help broaden our perspective on the world of Internet Marketing: we are to sign up in a new forum each day and make five posts in that forum.

Of course, this assignment serves a dual purpose. Not only will we expand our business insight and perspective, but we will also make our own presence known to a wider audience. In Internet Marketing, that's a very important goal!

Now, here's where my earlier comment about being "sheltered" comes in. Not only did our mentor give us this exciting assignment, but he also gave us an incredible list of forums to use to fulfill our daily assignment - and the list is huge! I knew there were other marketing forums 'out there' but I had no idea there were so many.

The initial list has about 80 forum links. Here are a few:

Oh, how embarrassing it is: After running ads and promos promoting my Web Bizz Blog, posting on Internet Home Business forums all over the place, establishing some great contacts and driving traffic to my blog page, the darn thing goes down for 12 hours!

And all because of a few little messed up characters in the source code, if you can believe it.

All I wanted to do was add two little helpful links down the left column of the page: one linking to information about the ConquerYourNiche Internet Marketing forum, and the other linking to a great source for Private Label Content for blogs, newsletters and other applications.

I thought I was following directions properly to add the necessary source code to my blog template, and when I previewed the altered template before saving the changes and posting them, everything seemed to look just fine and dandy.

"This is easy!" I thought to myself, a relatively new student to html and search engine optimization practices. "I can do this!"

However, after posting the changes, prickly thorns of torment and trouble hidden within my bed of roses quickly poked through to disturb my premature reverie.

I was immediately brought back down to earth and forced to face the reality of the imperfect world of Internet Marketing. That is to say, despite our best efforts, best intentions and best laid plans, things go wrong. It happens!

It has been said that it's not how many times you get knocked down that matters, but how many times you get back up again. That is so true when you are building your Internet home business.

Now, don't get me wrong. A home-based business is great! The best thing in the world if you want the freedom to do your own thing when and where you want. And the low investment and income potential is incredible - like few other business opportunities in the world.

But when you work at home to develop an online business, you have to realize that you are completely responsible for the choices and decisions you make and for finding solutions to the problems you create.

Fortunately, even though you are in business for yourself, you are not in business BY yourself. Thanks to the Internet, you have immediate access to knowledge bases and support groups that rival even the biggest "traditional" companies.

And that is what saved my skin when I compromised my blog page template yesterday. Even though I went instantly into crisis mode and had to work to control the rising panic, I knew I just had to put the call out to Internet marketing friends and associates and I would be able to resolve my problem.

The answers came quickly and I could have fixed the issue quicker than I did, but, alas, I am a believer in lifelong learning and I look to every experience as an educational opportunity, so I spent some time - anxious time, albeit - trying different approaches and potential solutions to the problem.

In the end, I simply copied and pasted the blog template source code back in that I had wisely saved before making changes yesterday morning. At 3 a.m. last night (well, this morning), I finally restored my template and drifted off to bed, another home-based business crisis narrowly averted.

And then, what did I do? This morning, I went back to the template to once again try adding in those two little changes that sparked the chain reaction of stressful events that ensued yesterday!

This time, I did it a different way. It took only moments to paste the source code in, save it, post it, view it and revel in the glory of success!

But just think of the great learning experience I would have missed if I hadn't made that mistake yesterday. We learn from our mistakes, and I think that sometimes we learn best when forced to focus on a crisis or a serious challenge. We remember THOSE experiences!

When you're building an Internet home business, at the end of the day, through all the typical trials and tribulations, it is grit and determination that truly wins the day.
