MLM versus Internet Marketing

I am an active Internet Marketer, but a few of the affiliate programs in my Internet Marketing (IM) portfolio are also MLMs (Multi-Level Marketing). I have simply chosen Internet Marketing as the way I prefer to promote them.

A few years ago I was involved in "traditional" face-to-face MLM. I did well enough in the income department - above average, by some standards at the time - but I did not like weekly meetings, three-way and conference calls, and chasing people to join me - or once they joined, chasing them to be active themselves in promoting it.

Internet Marketing attracted me because:

- First, I love marketing and promoting.

- Second, I can do it on my own time, at my own leisure anytime, day and night.

- Third, because I am largely a "visual" type of person and I need to think about things and examine them before acting. In other words, I am not typically "spontaneous" and never liked the demand in traditional MLM to think on my feet and make snap decisions or judgements. Some people are good at that. I venture to say that I am not.

Now I am thoroughly immersed in Internet Marketing and thoroughly enjoying it. The few MLM-style programs in my IM portfolio can be successfully developed via IM. Some of the team-building principles are the same. For example, training and sponsor support. But it can all be done via the Internet.

I suppose my point, and the bottom line, is you have to find what is right for you. Not only what product or program you want to promote, but also the style or method of promoting it.

In my opinion, there is no "best" or "right" way to market. It all comes down to the best fit for you, personally. That usually requires some time and effort on your part to research the opportunities, and it could mean some trial and error until you DO find that right fit, but the important thing is the goal. Where do you want to end up? How do you define success?

Once you determine the goal - that's the target you are aiming for - you can then start putting the steps in place to achieve it.

MLM or Internet Marketing? Whatever it takes! Remember the saying, "If it's going to be, it's up to me."

How To Pound Out Killer Ads That Get Results

Writing effective advertising copy may not seem like an easy thing to do, but with a little information, insight and practice you can learn to create ads guaranteed to grab attention and get the job done!

Here are a few of my favourite tips and ideas. You can adapt them to your industry and your needs.

The starting point for creating an ad is either the product you want to sell, or the audience you want to sell it to. What are you selling and to whom do you hope to sell it?

Let's say your focus is the product. Brainstorm a list, in writing, of every benefit and feature you can think of. Include all the wonderful ways the product will solve problems or enhance the life or business of the buyer.

Once the list is complete, prioritize the items by order of greatest value.

Next, think about your target audience. Carefully consider their needs, interests and expectations. Again, create and prioritize a list of all the reasons this audience could benefit from the product.

Now, go back to your list of product benefits and features and see if you can adjust the priorities to better fit the interests of this audience.

The next step is to decide what you want the ad to accomplish. Do you want to make direct sales from the ad? Or simply drive traffic to a website to do the selling? It is important to have a well-defined purpose. The more specific the purpose and the wording, the more powerful and effective the ad will be.

Alright, here we go. What is the most important benefit or feature of your product? Use that information in either your headline or your first sentence.

As you craft the body of the ad, entice your prospects with other high priority benefits and features. Be descriptive! Help your prospects visualize the product or its benefits. Use actual pictures or graphics where possible.

"Power" words can add punch to your ad copy. Words like Free, Easy, Guaranteed, Limited and New are effective in getting attention and motivating people to buy or respond. The use of the words You and Yours personalizes the ad and enhances its appeal.

You may want to highlight ways your product is different or better than other similar products, but do not cut down your competitor's product! Instead, focus on the positive qualities of your product.

Use testimonials from satisfied customers, if you have their approval.

Finally, it is always good to go for the close - TELL the prospect what to do: "Order NOW." "Visit our website TODAY." "Act FAST!" "Quantities are LIMITED. Get YOURS now."

Let's review the key points of successful advertising copy:

- choose a specific product or service

- identify a targeted audience

- create a powerfully appealing headline

- focus on the top benefits or features

- highlight the advantages

- use "power" words and phrases to motivate

- use descriptive words to create visual images and appeal

- know what you want the prospect to do and TELL them

- use testimonials

You can also review other ads and marketing materials to pick up additional ideas and insight. Experiment with changes in your ad copy and track your ads to see which ones produce the best results.

It may take some trial and error to find the best formula for your ads, but remember this - practice makes perfect.

Make 2008 Your Best Year Ever to Work at Home and Make Money Online

The New Year is upon us!

It is going to be a BIG year for those work-at-home enthusiasts who are building their Internet business. Especially for the ones who act quickly to lay the foundation for financial success in 2008.

Some of the building blocks are obvious. You need:

- your own website - for example, yourbusinessname.com

- proven products or services to promote on your website

- a professionally written email marketing campaign PLUS an autoresponder system to make it automatic (to save you time and effort)

- connections to social networking tools such as blogs, forums, social networking sites

- training, coaching and support from experienced marketers

You can find these resources all over the Internet - the ways and means to make money online are endless.

If you are serious about creating home-based income, the first thing to do is research. Check out various affiliate programs and money-making opportunities. Find products or services that interest you. Learn what you can about websites and marketing and search engine optimization.

Also, be aware that financial success seldom happens overnight. It takes time, patience, effort and plenty of determination. However, the good news is you can speed up your progress by learning from others who have blazed the trail before you.

That is exactly what I did in 2007. I did a lot of reading and research before I found the opportunity that I use as my foundation for Internet marketing success: the Plug-In Profit Site program.
