home based Internet marketing business often feel overwhelmed by the amount of information that is thrown their way. Suffering from information overload, they get lost in "strange" industry terms and phrases and don't exactly know how to prioritize the recommended
steps to web biz marketing success.
Internet marketing coaches and mentors do their best to provide guidance, but again, there is just so much to learn and it is all inter-related. It takes the student time to become familiar with the marketing methods, the priorities and the jargon.
When I was new, "SEO" was one of the terms used freely by "experienced"
web biz marketers, but seldom explained well enough for a newbie like me.
==> SEO stands for "Search Engine Optimization"Basically, SEO is the process of "optimizing" your website, blogs, articles and other online resources so the Internet search engines will more quickly index them and add them to the results pages when people do online searches for particular words and phrases.
Effective SEO is important because it can drive your website to the first page of the search engine results, and
websites on the first pages get the most traffic.
When I was new to the
home based Internet marketing business, I knew nothing about SEO or the
3 key steps to search engine success. I understood nothing of the importance of
keywords or
onsite optimization or
offsite optimization.
I knew that in
offline marketing uniqueness was the name of the advertising game: you created a unique name, catchy phrases and flashy advertising to get the prospect's attention.
However, marketing your
web biz opportunities online is a different story. An online business with an
established web presence might be able to use similar offline techniques effectively online, but the average
web biz marketing enthusiast, and especially the newbie, needs to first follow
established SEO practices to get their websites indexed and on the search engine radar screens.
What's In A Name?
The
web biz SEO starting point for most
home based Internet marketing newbies should be their domain name. Unfortunately, by the time most of us discover how important this is, it's too late. We have already selected our domain name and have spent a lot of time and money promoting it.
I am a prime example. I chose
StarrBizz.com (with two r's and two z's) to be
unique. I chose the blog title,
GT Bulmer Web Bizz Blog (again, two z's in bizz) to be
unique.
If you do an Internet search for
StarrBizz or StarrBizz.com and if you do a search for
web bizz or web bizz blog, you will see my site and my pages on the first pages of the search engine results.
That's great ...
but ... people who don't already know "StarrBizz.com" will not think of keying it into a search field, and few people will key in "bizz" with two z's or "GT Bulmer" unless they have already found my website or my
Web Bizz Blog page and are checking me out.
What I should have done to help accelerate my
web biz success in the beginning was selected the keywords that I wanted to target for search engine optimization, then used those keywords in my domain and blog names.
Thanks to a new understanding of SEO based on insight into the
3 steps to search engine success, I am finding alternative ways to compensate for and overcome the challenges of having a "unique" domain name and "unique" blog name.
So, my
web biz SEO success tip for today is, when choosing a website or blog page name,
consider basing it on your targeted keywords for maximum search engine optimization effectiveness.
What's in a name? SEO success - THAT's what's in a name. It can make a huge difference in your
web biz marketing success.
